We have all things vintage!

This weekend I visited an antique, collectable and vintage fair in hope of finding some bargains. I did! It was so busy and to be honest I found it quite frustrating not being able to get a good look at the items which were for sale. Although I found something’s I really liked some to the items in my opinion were just junk, but you know what they say someone else's junk is another’s treasure which in my case today was true.

My total buy £10.50

I am always up for finding a bargain, and today I am definitely pleased with what I found. Everything is in great condition, usually at these kinds of fairs as expected some items can be a bit worn and something’s are pretty much ruined. Even though I have hundreds of bags I don't have any like this and couldn't leave them behind wondering if I should have bought them. The red handbag is nice and spacious and plenty of compartments to organise everything in which in all honestly as a woman it doesn't matter how many compartments there are everything will get lost as it is a woman's handbag. We can never find keys or our phone amongst all the other junk we carry around on a day to day basis. The Athens bag I loved just as it's nice and casual and just a bit different. It's made of a blanket material and based upon a 1970's design although I'm not sure if it is from that decade, either way I love it.

My broaches

The broach on the right is an authentic 1950's gold broach, bargain at £3.50 the lady on the stall had a huge box of them! I thought it was a bit quirky but not to 'in your face' vintage chic look, by no means am I a vintage chic, I just have an interest in it and like some vintage items to match 'my style'. I'm not sure what my style is, I just tend to wear what I like and what I think looks good at the time. Both of these broaches though would go brilliantly on my winter coat, even though winter is nearly over in England I'm never quite sure when I'll have to put my coat away for the next year! The broach with the bird I also liked just because I like gold and I have a thing for birds on jewellery, I have many necklaces and have a thing for the birdcage design which has become quite popular over the last year or two.

1970's purse

This purse I saw and just couldn't leave it! I needed a 'new' purse anyway and really loved this one as soon as I saw it! I love the fabric design on it and the fact all my cards and money fit nicely inside without the worry of them falling out. This is probably my favourite item of the day all I can say is it's beautiful.

There was a huge collection of household items along with the fashion at the fair and living with my parents actually came in useful as if I lived on my own I think I would have spend and bought so much more. I can't wait to use my new items and put them to the test.

We have Brand new!

On Wednesday night I went to Bristol to see Brand new play with my bestest friend ever Josh. I it was so much fun, I've liked them for years and was mega hyped up to see them.

 Josh and I

Brand new

The set list was well done with all the faster songs in the middle and the slower songs towards the end, the perfect opportunity to cool down. It was so damn hot in there!
  1. Welcome to Bangkok
  2. The Archers Bows Have Broken
  3. Millstone
  4. Sowing Season
  5. Vices
  6. Gasoline
  7. Sink
  8. Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades
  9. Okay I Believe You, but My Tommy Gun Don't
  10. The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows
  11. Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis
  12. Jude Law and a Semester Abroad
  13. Seventy Times 7
  14. Play Crack the Sky
  15. Bought a Bride
  16. Jesus
  17. Degausser
  18. You Won't Know
It was a pretty long set not surprising with the amount of songs they actually have! I enjoyed the fact that it wasn't all tracks from the latest album as a bit of variety is often appreciated. As much as I like the latest album I don't feel it's their best material but then saying this I don't think I could pin point a favorite as they are all quite different in their own way. The band have a pretty steady fan base, this is most probably due to the fact that each album is different although they all have subtle changes unlike bands such as Taking back Sunday who just suddenly turned into a pop group over night! This could also be argued against bands that don't change their style and just get boring such as the Subways.

Me and Josh after a mosh and a dance, sweaty!
The atmosphere was great, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and the energy in the room was flowing. I can't decide which song I would rate as my favorite as I like all of them, which I stated whenever another song began to play (so typical of me).  I thought that the gig would be a lot rougher than what it actually was as live music always sounds heavier, but then I remembered that it would be full of emo's and they like to stand around not really doing much, although the people who were up for a dance and maybe a little moshing were really into it and not too cool to do so.

All in all was a fantastic night with some great tunes and great company! Definitely worth the wait as I had waited since August, and the aches and pains yesterday were worth it too. I felt like an old woman, my back, neck, arms and legs were hurting, maybe I am getting to old but let's be honest it's not going to stop me, it's nothing that a bit of paracetamol can't sort out. The train journey to Anthony's yesterday was hell, I was so tired, had hardly any sleep by the time I got home and relaxed it was nearly 3am. I did indulge in a lush cheese sandwich when I got in, was well deserved think I lost about 3lbs just in the mosh pit. I am now deaf and my ears are still ringing but it was all worth it.

I'll leave you with a bit of Brand new to listen to :)

We have all the snow!

The snow finally hit us over the weekend, thankfully it didn't stick around. As much as I hate to be cold Anthony and I did have fun playing in the snow, and the forest looked like Narnia.

The pretty forest

And again

I always forget how pretty the forest can be in the winter as I see it every day and after a while it becomes the norm and without any leaves on the trees it can sometimes look slightly depressing, but when it snows I think it looks almost magical! Throughout the other seasons of the year when the trees are lush and green the beauty of the forest can be breath taking.

Anthony the yeti...

After a long hard day of playing in the snow and attemping to go to Tesco we thought we would head back to the house and make a lovely dinner, something warming yet healthy. I'm trying to cut down, I love food and I love to cook. I would class myself as a foody. I'm the kind of person who sits and watches cooking shows trying to get any ideas I can and not to mention 'Come dine with me'! I am an addict. Let's be honest though without the narrator the show wouldn't be what it is. It's the queen of day time telly, but to be honest it's on all the time!

Spicy prawn spaghetti in a tomato and white wine sauce.

This recipe is really easy and quick to make and if you don't like prawns you can always use chicken.
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes
  • 200g raw prawns
  • 1 onion
  • 1 glass of white wine (the rest of bottle will go perfectly with your meal)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 8 medium mushrooms
  • 200g spaghetti
  • Crushed chilli flakes (according to your taste)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil for frying
  • Cheese for sprinkling (optional)
  1. Chop your onion, mushrooms and crush the garlic. Fry gently in the olive oil until soft and then add the white wine and simmer for 5 minutes or until slightly reduced.
  2. Add the chopped tomatoes, seasonings and the chilli flakes to your taste.
  3. Boil up some water and cook spaghetti according to the packets instructions.
  4. Meanwhile whilst the spaghetti is cooking add the prawns. When the prawns are pink they will be ready to eat. Mix the sauce and the pasta together until well combined.
  5. Serve up and enjoy!
Our meal we accompanied our spaghetti with a tear and share garlic bread it went down a storm! One of Anthony's new favourite meals.

It was a lovely weekend and as much as we all moan about the cold and the snow thankfully we didn't have to go anywhere and could relax in the warm on Saturday night, we curled up watching a horror film. Not the best film I've ever seen but regardless to the cold being wrapped up warm was priceless!
